Anybody know much abut the 2014 cop bikes?
They look identical to the civilian RK with a different seat
Wondering what engine differences in the 2014 flhtp models, they say 103 high-
Output, I'm guessing it's the same engine in a standard flht 2014 model without the rear seating and rear luggage case, no stereo etc. the police model seems to be all the same changes as the Rushmore models,
I have owned two Police Bikes, a 1998 and a 2004 which I still ride. I found the 2004 with only 9000 on the odometer. Maybe it's because I'm a former cop or that I just love riding good motorcycles but I would take a new Police Bike over the other models. The color selection was black or white or a combo for a long time but they have advanced with that like the many others.Mike flhp, A very good friend of mine who owns his own shop now after being the top wrench for a dealership gave me that info many years ago. It was well before 09. I don't know when HD made this change on the line but I was told about it in 1992 after my friend had returned from getting his Harley PHD at the factory. He told me that a very old hand at the plant said that after every motor and transmisson is given all of it's testing the top 10% are put to the side. They are then put in all of the Police fleet bikes. There is good reason for this as they know that word of mouth can kill your sales. They know that POLICE BIKES are ridden every day and not just brought out of the garage on the weekends. They are also ridden hard while doing escorts and traffic control.

We picked up out new '14's yesterday. Nice!!! Love the higher seating position, much more comfortable for me. Rode like it was on rails, very smooth. The only things I didn't like we're the apparently steeper angle of the brake pedal and that the top of the windshield vibrates badly at highway speeds. Noticeably more power than the 12's we've been riding.
The '08's with ABS ate front wheel bearings like crazy. My '08 went through 5 sets of front wheel bearings in the first 12,000 miles. Our fleet mechanic finally figured out it was the right side bearing (non-abs type) that was failing. He used a spacer and put an ABS type bearing in the right side and solved the problem. I don't know if Harley ever made an official fix on this, though. Virtually every bike in our fleet suffered from this problem.
Thanks. This is good feedback. I'm not really sold on the whole ABS thing anyhow.
Where are good places to look for retired police bikes? Would like to stay out of the stealership.
