i am putting 14'' bars on my flhx, i ordered the extentions for the wire and all that is done and i am trying to put new tips on the wires to build the plug. well i didnt think it would be a big deal to find the tool but i was wrong. i have ordered 2 of them but neither will crimp small enough ga to work, they only go to 22 ga. if i had know i would have just made exentions and left the factory tips and re used them. im not happy at all with the customer service from who i ordered from had cpl other small isues with the kit and they will not answer any emails once i placed the order. super helpful till they got my business. i know alot of ppl here have put new bars on so im hoping you can tell me where to get the crimping tool. or if anybody wants to sell one. thanks for any help
that doesnt really help me at this point seeing as how i have all mine extended and need the new tips crimped on. that was a good write up on it and very detailed pix
Wire size is not your issue. Most of the OEM wires are 18 ga. and some are 16 ga.
Your issue is that you are using a Molex connector which may have the tightest tolereances for crimping compared to the Deutsch connectors HD used pre-'07 model year. The tighter tolerances for the Molex connector crimps may require a better crimp tool.
You don't mention what tools you have purchased. You ought to provide that information.
You can go to Molex's website or search for Molex crimp tools to find the tool that does the job. I have an OCD friend who bought a $400 crimp tool for use with Molex connectors and he's extremely happy with the quality of the crimps.
