In the heat of the summer, I wear a Tourmaster Air Intake 2 mesh jacket. It has 2 liners and could be a year-round jacket (although I prefer leather in fall winter spring.
I tried the tourmaster air intake jacket and pants last summer. After wearing them three times the zippers were comming apart and the velcro enclosures were coming undone. I returned them for a full refund. Also found them to be bulky and difficult to change or add different layers. The set-up just didn't work for me. Could be I just got a bad set. There must be some quality to them or they wouldn't still be in business. I'd still like to find some textile gear that I'd be comfortable with.
First if you have never had a mesh jacket, you will not go without one in your riding gear collection after riding in one. The air going thru there is like A/C. Second the idea of having body armour on is nice, kinda like insurance, ya hope to never use it, but nice if ya need it.

I have been wearing the Tourmaster Flex 2 (they have 3 now) for 5 years. I wear it year round, keeps my dry in the rain and goes to mesh for warmer weather. I like it better that a long sleeved t-shirt and the liners are easy to tsake on and off. I wear it everyday and all of the zippers and velcro are still intact. I have the Flex pant as well.
Check out the HD "Authority Functional Jacket".
I've had mine about 4 years, looks brand new, and is (by far) the most versatile jacket I own (I have 3 leather, as well). Has body armor, plenty of zippers, goes from mountain-top cold to desert heat with no issues.
I have a wide variet at this point. A Cortech textile with armor inserts for shoulder/elbow and built in back armor. The inserts for that are currently in my HD leather jacket. Also have a First Gear mesh jacket for warmer weather.
