Is this normal?
Don't know if this is normal or not, but before I brought my used ultra classic home from the dealer, I told him that I thought the rotor was warped because the front brake surged while stopping. He said it was normal but had the service department resurface the brakes anyway. He said they rode it and it was fine. Now today I noticed that while applying the front brake I am feeling a slight of vibration (almost a rattle) in addition to the uneven braking. This is my first Harley and don't really know what is "normal". Has anyone had this experience?
Sounds like the rotor could be out of parallelism, in layman terms it isn't rotating true (side to side) to its axis. Could have been machined incorrectly or you may have a hanging caliper that is overheating the brake pads and rotor. If the dealer won't address it find an indy.
I know a good indy but I think the dealer should fix it since I questioned them about it before I bought it. Now I think I shold have rejected it until they got it right. Thanks, I think I will bug them to check it again, if that fails, take it to the indy.

Just a suggestion that you find out for sure whether it does or not just for safety. Whether you have them or not can determine how you want to brake in an emergency. I would recommend if you're new to a harley that you practice hard braking in a parking lot so when "oh chit" happens you may be more prepared.
