I have been using mine since 2008. I have 3 media inserts 2 spares and one in use all the time. I love the reusable filter the ease of cleaning it with some koresene followed with soapy water washing and rinsing then setting in on the self to dry until I use it again.
The other plus is the magnet that is on the filter insert gives you a visual to how your ferrous metal engine parts are wearing by the amount of metal sludge you would see stuck to the magnet when removed. You cant see that with a paper type throw away filter.
I didnt see any noticeable temperature drop but I have a Oil Bud oil cooler that does its job very nicely

Ive read on here somewhere that the filter is rated at 35 micron. Regular Harley filters are 10 and the hd premiums are 5 micron. It seems to make sense that its higher flowing because of the less filtration compared to oem filters. For race applications where your constantly changing the filter I would use it. For my road bike I'll stick with the better filtration that the hd filters provide

Thanks, Tom. So they call it the 'Hurricane' oil filter. Interesting. But, the part number jives with the part number on the K&P website, so I think I'm good to go. Thanks for your help.

Can't answer that, unfortunately. IMO, I think if you're using a good quality motor oil, and changing it at reasonable intervals, I seriously doubt that the .035 micron particle size would be a major concern. A high mileage tear-down comparison would be interesting though.
Well here we go again, but I'll try to explain what I know. First, 5 microns doesn't mean crap when you start your cold engine will 20/50 oil in it. Your filter goes into full by-pass until the oil warms up.(That's 0 filtering). Because of the better flow in the K&P(or other brands of its type) filtering takes place even on start up. Anything your motor runs will rob horsepower(as in the oil pump). Better flow equals less horsepower to run.
