I noticed when I use the intercom on my 2007 electra glide ultra my radio volume literally is cut in half. I've heard things about voltage drops, but don't really understand the situation. Can anything be done to remedy this? One of the reasons I bought a ultra was for the intercom and cb. Don't really want to spend money on bluetooth intercoms. Any thoughts?
the volume for the cb\intercom can be adjusted separately from the radio, the radio will drop volume when the mic is open so u can hear the cb \intercom.
I could be wrong but I think that is normal. We have a 12 Ultra EG and just finished a ride. The radio cuts out when the PTT button is activated by either the driver or passenger. Once the PTT button is released the volume returns to the previous level. Is that what you are experiencing?
Volume controls are dependent on how the speaker switch is set.
Fully Forward: Music, CB and Intercom through the headsets. Volume is set by rider and passenger
Middle Position: Music in speakers, CB and Intercom in headsets. Volume control on handle bars controls the volume of speakers. To change the volume of CB or Intercom you need to select that on the radio.
Full rear position: CB and Music through the speakers.
When you push the PTT the volume of music will tone down so you can transmit. Same thing happens when the CB is on and you receive a signal depending on the squelch settings.
I figured it out, the vox was set to open so the mics were always transmitting, so the volume was always cut. I didn't know the volume went down on the radio when transmitting,. Thanks everyone!
