Clean tires aren't shiny. I use a brush to scrub them, works good on white walls.
Rubber or belt dressing protects them and makes them look good but not shiny.
I was on the fence on this one for a while, Pledge? Tire foam ? Then I tried the Harley Black, wheel dressing, yes it is a little messy but it really works and lasts. Check it out.
I use the old school wesleys blec wite on my rk classics whitewall. I use medical nitrile gloves and spray the cleaner on a rag or old kitchen non stick pan safe scrub pad. I then use a bucket of water and another rag to rinse..twice. Use caution around any think painted powder coated etc..it will damage the finish..it makes blackwalls look great too.
I've been using Westleys Bleche-White on tires for decades. I squirt it on, use a scrub brush on the sidewalls, then rinse off with hose. I've used this product on every type of wheel from aluminum to painted and never had a problem, but I never let it sit around very long. I've never found a product that does a better job on raised white letter tires or white walls.

I use it too - and it's the good stuff I'm told. In Canada it's packaged by a different name by the same company and sold by Canadian Tire as Simoniz (formerly Formula 409 or something).
