Its really very simple. The Car companies have done it for years. its called an OPTION, so because you want something different, you pay a premium for it. No one twists your arrm to get this Option, soo no one will complain about it. its legal, as long as the cost of the option is listed up front.
No one complains when the car companies do it, why complain cause the MoCo does? After all....like it or not, YOU made the choice to have the option, so as far as the MoCo is concerned, You must have done your homework and reshearched whatyou wanted before you bought it.
I still don't agree with the way its done, but its has been done forever. I always buy stock, and add the extras myself, that way I can sell the stock parts and recoup some of the costs

Funny thing is I remember when it was always a laced wheel that was standard on MOST models and the Alloy was extra $. Then it reversed sometime in the early 90's and suddenly spokes were extra $.
You're right, HD's not twisting your arm to add the option. I just figured there was some justification for charging more, I guess not.
The laced do look cool as hell though, even if tubeless and hard to clean!!! (oh, why is there a hook in the food I'm nibbling...)
The six spoke slotted casts look descent too, if want tubeless.
Just my thoughts, ride on!
