Default New RK

I just bought a new 2012 Road King. I'm planning to put slip ons on it for now, but while I'm strapped for cash from the down payment, leaving stage one alone for now. When I do get to it though, how much is a stage one flash going for? Or, should I just go for the tuner? I'm leaning towards the tuner but wondering about the price comparisons. Thanks in advance.

I would suggest a good tuner and dyno, especially if down the road you might make some more changes. There are many good tuners out there in all different price ranges but, to me a good tuner will make or break your riding experience. Nothing like a sweet running bike with NO problems. You can see what I chose (see sig) and I have run the PC-V on two other bikes, very happy with my choice.

My nephew just paid somewhere in the 175-200 range for the dealer download, tuners range in price dramatically... Maybe anywhere from 300-1000? Hard to say exactly because there's so many out there.

In the Pacific NW they get $150 for the ECM re-flash & typically tuners can be found in the $350-$400 range. I would call Jamie at Fuel-Moto. He's one of the sponsors on here & he can hook you up!

for that kind of cash, I'd opt for the tuner, probably Fuel Moto since Jamie is so well trusted. Too bad Obummer chose to not give me a refund, it may take a couple of months to afford it. At least it sounds better now! (B&E Superflow 2s)

When you make a change in the air flow on these bikes, you lean them out even more than the factory setting. A stage 1 download will only return it to factory specs. So its still going to be lean.

That's a good looking scoot you got there. I have the same bike and I went with X-IEDS from Nightrider till I could scrape up the $$ to get a tuner. They work ok but they take time to get adjusted right. I suggest that you give Fuel Moto a call, those guys know what they are doing.

Slip on muffler and air cleaner mod is the best bang for the money, a dealer reflash is OK,
but a tuner and dyno time will put it spot on. Good luck with the new Bike, work hard &
save your money and just ride hell out of it.

Save your pennies.

Just My Opinion,

Your bike has a Cat converter in the head pipe. So, Fuel Moto head pipe system.

Fuel Moto air intake,

Your choice of Mufflers, I like these but haven't come up with the pennies yet.

Power Commander V. And to really make the system trouble free and the Power commander Auto Tune
