I just finished a bunch of work on my road king. Haven't even had a test drive yet but I'm so pleased and satisfied that I can hardly stand it. I have an older road king (97) and I've had it since it's early retirement from police duty in 99. I just finished upgrading it with new front end stuff. Polished lower legs, wheel, brembos, race tech springs, emulators. Should be like riding a whole new bike tomorrow morning. The most pleasing thing though is knowing that I did it for pennies on the dollar and every part was chosen with purpose and put together carefully and cleanly. I'll try my hand at posting some pics tomorrow but I have to get it out on the road before I can brag too much! Thanks for all the help! Couldn't have done it without the helpful information from members of this forum.
Thanks for the replies. It turned out great! Man those Brembo brakes really work great. I think I might want to valve it a little stiffer and increase the preload but I'll ride it awhile first. I haven't put the fairing back on yet and that adds a fair bit of weight so I think it'll be a little soft. I've been riding it bare this morning and I havent done that in several months so that changes the handling and feel too. Sure seems nice and smooth. I parked at Lowes to run in and get something and came back out to a whole group gathered around it so I guess it still turns heads! I'll try to get some pics posted in a bit.
I called in a real photographer (my wife) and her equipment this afternoon for the after pics.
I've got several pics I took during the process but I've still got to get them uploaded. I'll try to post them tomorrow. Do I need to be doing something different, making them smaller or something? I couldn't find any instructions on posting pics......and yes, my head gaskets are leaking.
BTW...my wife is as good looking as the photos she takes
And with the fairing:
