Rode a Street Glide ....
Motorcycles are not a "one size fits all" proposition. They are packaged concepts made for the masses.
Anyone who has done this before knows that buying the motorcycle is just the first step. The second step is making it your own.
Don't sell the SG short. It's a best seller for a good reason.

Went from a fatboy, 16" apes, no shield, to the streetglide so I understand the difference between the wind in your face and the buffeting.
Once I directed the air over the batwing a little higher and killed the wind from below I have a very calm "cockpit" area behind the batwing.
It's the air from below that you have to get rid of
Don't worry too much about it. Ride it and judge for yourself. If need be a 6.5" recurve shield helps and does not ruin the looks of the SG. Still plenty short enough to be sporty.
I'm probably the only poerson that feels this way, but to me the wind and the buffeting is a part of the ride. It's all a matter of choice.
As a quick example, before I had the street glide, I had a 2006 FLHTCU(Screamin Eagle Ultra). It had the extra tall wndshield. I found that in the rain, I would need to wipe the rain off:
1. The outside of the windshield
2. The inside of the windshield
3. The outside of the faceshield
4. The inside of the face shield
5. Theo outside lens of my glasses
6. The inside of my glasses
When I had the tall windshield I felt like i was riding IN the motorcycle, not ON the motorcycle.
Just my opinion...........
