Question about late model windshields on older bikes
I have looked through the site and I have found nothing..Maybe I'm just an idiot..
I have a 91 electra glide classic and I was wondering if I could modify a newer windshield ie: 3 bolt to work on my 5 bolt mount..any help is appreciated

The 86-95 OEM windsheld has an almost straight bottom with 5 holes & 2 tabs with an hole. Most aftermarket shields don't have the tabs.
The OEM 96-12 windshield has a zig-zag bottom with 3 keyholes.
From memory: The dimension from the center hole to the outside holes do not match exactly between the two windshields. Also, I think the 86-95 is about 3/16" wider per side than the 96-12 is.
To make a 96-12 fit a 86-95, you'll have to cut about 2 inches off the bottom , drill 2 extra holes and possibly elongate the outer 2 holes. It might be more effort than its worth to some.
There are companies that still make the 86-95 models.
A walk thru the J&P Cycles book should find one.
