ok so I got my back back good as new.. i have incredible top end from like 3 to 6 grand.. but crap for low end. i practically have to down shift to 4th at 60 to pick up speed.... im trying to figure out how i could get some more bottom end to it.. this is what has been done to it...
flywheel was lightend and balanced
ev 59 cam
crane ignition
ported heads
10.5 to 1 compression
s&s oil pump and pushrods
kibblewhite valves
barrnett clutch plates and spring
i still have the stock carb and have dumper straight pipes on there...
i just replaced the chain and sprocket in the primary... i wanted to put diffrent gear to get more lower end but the chain was too tight so we had to put a new stock sprocket back on...
thanks for the help
stock is 32T/66T . going to 30T would give you more torque at the rear wheel and make you belt looser. going to 30T/68T would give you even more rear wheel torque and the belt fit would be the same as stock 32T/66T.
Who ported your heads and what cam does he recommend?
they guy that ported my heads is the guy that built my motor... and he also reccomended the ev59.. i ran outta money and wasnt able to put a new carb on i was thinking of going with a 45 mikuni...
he also says that if i put a 2 to 1 on that i would have a significant torque gain.. but i dont like the look of that...
so i think what im gonna do is keep the ev 59.. and start by putting on a bigger carb... i dont want to destroy my fuel economy by changing gears... or so i hear
just had 21 tooth and chain installed today and wow what a difference only have 40 miles so far I wanted a little more of what I already had.
Harley used to sell an SE primary kit of 21T and shorter chain for TC88s. I fitted one to my Dyna. Gives a 19% increase in rear wheel torque, cheapest tuning aid out there! Reduced gearing to around 20mph per 1,000rpm, which I found a real improvement. Got the motor above an annoying vibration patch just under 3k rpm, when travelling on the open road.
