Iget the 10-15 Dollar specials at the Kiosk in the Malls and/or Gas stations by the 2's, that way if they break or get scratched there is no big Issues i just throw them awayand get another pair out of my Saddle Bags
I agree about www.bestmcglasses.com I have about 5 or 6 pairs, they work great and cheap enough that if they get damaged you trash them and order a couple more pair.
For bright sun I use my polarized Oakley half jackets. Any other time I use a HD branded transitition lens which I think is called a Diablo... They're good for all but the brightest sun and I don't have to stop to change glasses as I have in the past. The Oakleys are close to $200 and the HD are around a $100. Oh, and I wear contacts so sunglasses / riding glasses are VERY important to me. My uncorrected vision is 20/200 and Yes, I've lost contacts while riding and once while riding at night on a DARK and winding road! [:@]
I use regular old Z-87 Safety glasses made by Iron wear, clear, smoke, dark, and amber for $4.00 per pair, I keep 5 or 6 sets in the bag and usually leave a pair at every bar between here and TX.
Can't help you with cheap omes but I wear the Panoptix day/night sunglass/goggles with my 1/2 helmet. They work great and are comfortable. I'm going to pick up another pair in the spring to keep in my saddlebag as a backup.
I wear the same and a little secret is if you have optical insurance that will cover prescription sunglassesgo to the panoptix web site pick a dealer that is a optrican and your insurance may pick up the cost, mine did so I got this http://www.panoptx.com/html/m_sirocco.htmin day/night with my variable focal lensfor exactly $0.00
I have Panoptyx, thye are great glasses, but are expensive, some over $200. 00. even though I wear these on a regular basis, I have found a great source at a local Flea Market. I get two pairs of good riding glasses for $15.00. I do not worry about them and have used them in all weather including rain. I would save your money and try some cheaper ones first.
Thanks for the info sportyrider1 I do have optical insurance, I will have to look into that option.
Your welcome. theactual story was both me and my wife got a pair of panoptix this year for $0.00 the insurance got a bill for around $500.00 but like I said I had all the options on mine the wife's were off the shelf stock except day/night. the good thing about getting them at an eye doctor like regular glasses they can be fitted. two things to make sure of is (1) get one of themodels with the removable eye cups that way they can be worn as regular sunglasses. (2) only deal with a eye doctor that has at least the model you want in stockto try on. I have had two diffrent styles first pairfrom adoctor who would only ordered but didnt stock I did not like them they as they were to big but the second pair from a diffrent office that had samples in stock was just right.
