I just switched over to a half helmet and was looking to get some suggestions on some inexpensive riding glasses/goggles, perferably glasses. Just looking for some direction, I noticed that most of the HD ones range from $125 to $150, they may be worth it but I don't know. Any suggestions or guidance would be greatly appreciated.
Can't help you with cheap omes but I wear the Panoptix day/night sunglass/goggles with my 1/2 helmet. They work great and are comfortable. I'm going to pick up another pair in the spring to keep in my saddlebag as a backup.
Gargoyles classic 85s, find on internet for about 70-90.00 can't beat them, wrap around, distorsion free and they come in several tints .Very good wind protection, I have tested at 110mph with no problem.
I don't know if you wear prescription glasses or not but for just regular riding glasses I've found there is no substitute for trying on lots of pairs and see what fits your face best and does the job you want it to do. I've seen guys recommend expensive glasses and it works well for them but other people don't like them. And I've also seen guys spend money on expensive ones only to later find cheap ones that do a better job. Its been my experience that I like to trade off between glasses and it depends on the kind of riding you do and the conditions of the day. Good luck.
The name brand, high dollar riding glasses makers are gonna hate this, but... in stores I never expected, I found some that I use in tougher conditions: Nice wrap on the sides, almost touches the brow and close to the face at the lower edges too, clear and sunglass lenses, vented andincredible high impact-proof. Good lookin on the bike... maybe notpreferred in the bar by a clothes horse though. Surprise! ....found them at the welding products supply stores. Reading glass lenses available too. Usually less then $20.
I prefer the day/night glasses. In the beginning I wasnt crazy about them because they just didnt get dark enough. Over time I got used to the fact they were not as dark but really enjoy the fact I dont have to stop and change glasses. I think I gave about 125 for the set I wear all the time
best thing is to get glasses that fit your face. I tried all the expensive ones and settled on a pair of $14.00 glasses. They work fine but scratch easily so I keep an extra pair and always store them in a soft, cloth case.
