Default Repairing Batwing Fairing Mounts

I have a spare BW fairing that has a broken off mounting tab. Has anyone repaired one of these? I don't have the broken piece. I was thinking of maybe JB-Welding a deep threaded nut or extension nut??

Run a search in this forum there are co. that make replacement supports that are much better than the stock supports and are pretty cheap cost wise. I think I've seen them on ebay also. Or Amazon.

My painter has repaired inner fairings where the plastic surrounding the brass inserts have cracked or broken off. He uses a plastic welding technique.

I do not recall anyone posting your idea but I'd say you have little to lose by trying it.

If it doesn't work you can most likely find a new inner in the $75 range.

Good luck and please post pics and results if you make it work.

There have been several bracket repair threads posted here over the past three years or so. Here's one that I posted recently that links three threads, plus offers more thoughts on adding a second horizontal bracket on each side to better-support heavier aftermarket speakers.

I think he's talking about the inner fairing itself not the brackets that support it.

Problem to me reads as with the inner fairing itself guys NOT the brackets.

I had the same problem but bought a used inner fairing at a motorcycle swapmeet and had it custom painted.

I'm pretty sure this is what the OP is talking about. If I am wrong I stand corrected. As a matter of interest I have had to replace an insert myself and I also purchased and installed Dan's mounts.
