advise/options - adding forward top engine stabilizer link
I have an 07 ultra. 08 and prior models do not have the forward top engine stabilizer link. 09's and later do.....consisting of two new bolt holes at the front top of the engine....a triangle mount which mounts to the engine and supports one of of a dog bone type double rod end link.....with the remaining end mounted to a small pipe welded to the frame using a thru bolt. judging by the vertical orientation of the link, the target is reducing horizontal movement at the top of the engine which probably helps reduce the phantom wobble folks have reported. I've experienced the wobble on a few occasions. So my plan, since I am doing a top end rebuild which includes installing an 09 set of MCR's heads which now provides the mounting holes for the bracket....is to buy the bracket (billet version is 129.00), buy the link (about 40.00) and use a studded lighting clamp secured to the frame to provide a landing point for the link. the studded lighting clamp is rated at 1100 lbs strength which would be more ethan enough. anyone done this and have other ideas? thanks see pic's for componets.
Your 07 has one already, its under the 5 gal tank.
09's and later models have 3 links, the link under the tank, the link near the oil filter, and a new link mounted at the front of the top forward cylinder with a link going horizontally to the frame. My bike , and 07, has the first two, but not the last one. Since I am installing 09 heads, which has the predrilled holes for the third link, I'm going to install the third link.

09 and later DO NOT have the one under the tank, it was moved to the front head!
also... 09 up removed the link near the filter. its a completely different design.
And... the link on the front head is solid... NOT adjustable. the engine/tranny on 08 back is adjustable to be able to give the bike an alignment. 09 up uses a multi piece frame and there is NO adjustments made with the engine/tranny. I think you are barking up the wrong tree, BWTFDIK.

if you are interested I will sell you the link off of my 11 flhrc...its chrome, but not polished..it looks the same as the one in the picture....the one I replaced it with is polished chrome...
I hope we have cleared up speakerfritz that your bike already has a top stabilizer and doesn't need another one on the front head, even if you can fit it!
If you have a handling wobble first check that your tyres, wheel bearings, neck bearings, engine mounting rubbers etc albiare all in top condition. If you still experience the 'wobble', what you need is a rear stabilizer and I recommend a True-Track. It's the only way to travel!
Got someone to weld the end link attachment tube in for me so all I need is the mount and the link which will be in early next week. Thanks for the comments.
