Install cruise on 08 flhx
Thinking about installing cruise controll on my 08 street glide, will I need to go back to HD to initialize it or is it pretty much bolt on? How much will it cost for the kit?

I installed on on the wifes 08 streetglide a few years ago. Cant remember the price though. Its a very easy installation. Follow the directions that come with its about a 30 minute job (if I remember right). Yes you will have to take it to the dealer to have it initialized (cruise control turned on). Only takes the dealer a couple of minutes to do.

I just did my 07 Road King Custom... took a few hours, kit was $400 but I think it is more for 07 than for newer years. Had to pull the headlight, seat, of course both handlebar switch units, but instructions that came with the unit were good... mine did not have to be initialized at harley but yours may be different.

'08 and newer models are TBW, so the cruise control needs to be turned on by the dealer. '07 and older models use cable throttle; "initialize" refers to the cable lash used on the older cruise control module--no cable to "initialize" on '08 and newer models.

ive got an 06 SG and ordered kit number 77196-04 a few weeks ago from the steeler. called today to see where my stuff was and they failed to tell me that it was obsolete. NICE. spoke to the service guys and they said they can pull out the ole microfish and piece it together for about $1000.00 bucks (installed). im gunna install it myself so that should save some cash. way more than i wanted to pay. they are in the process of getting the part numbers and prices for me. hope to get some stuff cheap on ebay. we will see. ill post when i get more info. good luck.
