Well. I finally did it. I got tired of looking in the rear view to see if Smokey was going to chase me down and slap a ticket on me for my brain bucket. My wife's been on me pretty hard(and not in a good way about wearing a safe helmet(we do have kids and all). Since I'm a tech kinda guy, I figured if I HAD to wear a DOT helmet, why not make it as cool as possible. After going into several local places I finally found the right one. An HJC IS-16. I put my foot down on the flip up deal. A little too far on the other side for me(if you like them, that's not a stab at you). The one I chose is matte black and I am having an airbrush buddy of mine do some tattooing on it. There are two things that sold me on this one. First, it has built in, flip down shades that come down farther than most others(almost touch my cheeks), with a clear face shield so no more leaving the bar at night and wondering where in the hell to put my shades. Second, it has pockets for the bluetooth(Scala G4) speakers. It's a quiet helmet, so I can sync my iPhone to it and jam while going down the road. On a geeky note, I can also talk on the phone 100% hands free, get gps directions without having to look at anything, and it has built in FM radio. A lot to digest, I know. I'll post pics if anyones interested.
You can get the same helmet with the official HD logo if you want to pay extra. LOL!
Shoei Neotec on my noggin.
Hey Hoe,
Been lookin' at the Neotec. Are you happy with it? Can you ride with the front flipped up? I'm looking to replace my RF1000, which I have been very happy with. Hoping the Neotec will fit as well.
FF is the way i travel. I use the ultras hook-up, Bomm audio for phone tx audio, zumo 550, then my Shoei is all set with J&M internal headset. Good luck with your new setup.
I got the helmet from Motorcycle Gear.com(retail is right at $200, they had it for $139.00 shipped), and the G4 from Amazon($170 shipped). The local shop tried to sell me the older version of the Scala at a discount but the new G4 software can be updated over the internet. If the older version has a problem you have to send it in. I looked at the Neotec pretty hard, but I really liked the flip down shades feature on the HJC. Someone told me the flip ups were sort of noisy around the seams. Is that true?
I installed a Scala G4 in my Shoei Qwest helmet recently. It's not a bad communicator. Works well with my iPhone. Completely wireless. The intercom feature is excellent.

Gotta agree with you on both the HJC & the Scala. Both good gear & The Helmet Shop in Daytona carries both. Not a plug, just info. I use both, but the older Scala (if the damn thing would die I'd buy the G4).
I have a Shoei Qwest with a Sena SMH10, I love it, all the same features, except its not a flip, I also have a Shark, I just happen to like the Shoei more.
