I had the BOOM hidden antenna installed when I bought the bike, along with the BOOM amp and speakers. The radio reception is, "eh", I guess. I never rode the bike with the stock antenna so I don't have anything to positively compare it to.
I never listen to the radio anyway, all iPod thus far. Wish I had gotten XM, might still, just recently got SirriusXM in my new car and really like it.
I use the boom hidden, I haven't really seen any difference from the stock whip, even with WB. I used a splitter so in case it didn't work well I could go back to the whip or a shorty. Since then, I saw on here where someone rotated the bracket and zip tied the whip along the frame, out of sight, so I also did that and now have two antennas, the hidden amplified one in the fairing and the hidden whip ran along the frame. I also didn't stick the antenna to the fairing, but zip tied it in as you will see in many other posts here, on less thing to disconnect if you take the fairing off. Also, the Boom speakers are a good upgrade, but there are many other good ones out there, also. Same with antennas, lots of them, I bought the Boom becasue I got a great deal on it at my dealership.
Save yourself some money and keep the performance of the stock antenna! Just bend your antenna down behind the saddle bag and tie wrap it there. Doesn't hurt or affect the quality at all! Bingo, hidden antenna.
I installed one inside the fairing & it worked fine untill the oil cooler fan kicked on. All I could hear with the fan running was static. I ended up ty-raping the stock whip inside the fairing & using a short coax to hook it up to the radio, works great & out of site. I then purchased stainless steel nuts & acorn nuts to cover the studs on the tour pak where the antennas mounted.
i have the tune trapper and it worked great to i installed a HID light kit to my headlight then all i got was static but i took out the bulb and put the tunetrapper back in and it works real good hope the amp i just ordered doesnt interfer next
