Neither, and no Airhawk either.

The sheepskin will be a sopping mess when it rains, gel absorbs heat like a b!tch and an Airhawk (or anything else you sit on top) is loose on top of your seat - no matter how much you tighten the straps.

The seat itself is the problem - fix the foundation - and there are lots of options. I'm very satisfied with Mean City Cycles (HDForums sponsor), or Corbin, Mustang, Saddlemen, Russell, Mayer, etc.

If you're serious about long distance cruising (I did 35k last season, leaving in 3 weeks for 8 weeks/28k), fix the underlying problem. Your a$$ will thank you.

I use the Pro Pad sheep skin. Did some Iron Butt rides and found it to be best for me. It stays in place and when you stop to eat or what ever just take it off . Cool in summer warm in the winter. My two cent's

I have an Alaska Leather sheep pad and the gel pad...I use both or one....works for me.
Some use the Wally world pad ( 20.00) I've used the beads in the past too...they're good for air....
But getting the seat modified will serve you best....

All butts are different, what works for one may not work for you...

Another Airhawk fan. It is the only *** accessory I am aware of that guarantees your comfort and allows you to ride more hours and longer distances without discomfort or your $$$ money back.

My Airhawk is not loose on top. That only happens when it is over inflated. Fixing the seat can get extremely expensive and most fixed seats and aftermarket seats are just as bad, worse or not much better than stock, I know that from experience. Right now I have Mean City Cycles' best and the only way I can stay on it more than a couple hours is to use the Airhawk which is adjustable to what feels best to me. No ordinary retrofit with a little foam or gel is going to make much difference and is a waste of money. I don't know about the Russel Day Long, they are a different breed altogether, maybe someday I'll give that a shot. There is no right answer that fits everyone. Something that is adjustable will probably do the most for you.

Buy a full sheepskin from Costco or Sams for about $40 bucks.
It will make 2 pads.

What is the correct size of the Airhawk for Electra Glide Classic standard seats?

BTW, I have a BeadRider (http://www.beadrider.com/) seat pad and it works pretty well. Especially in regards to keeping your butt cool during hotter weather. However, I still develop butt numbness and hope that the Airhawk will solve that.

One other point...If you're overweight and out of shape, you might consider fixing that...My stock seat became much more comfortable after losing the excess weight and getting my legs in shape. Just a thought...
