Yup, I've got a Bushtec, also. They have three different versions of both styles (receiver and full tongue) - one for plain fenders, one for bumpers and SG/RGC fascias, and one for extended CVO fenders. Here's my RGU with rear facia. Standing six feet behind it, you can't see it. You need to get down on the ground to see it.
Bought the Kuryakyn hitch and their trailer harness from J&P two years ago for a trip to Sturgis. Works well and I have no complaints about either item. Good service from J&P too.
I have had 2 of these on different bikes so I must like them. They are very minimalist and made and sold directly by a small manufacture. The guy’s name is Todd and was helpful when I called him with an install problem with the wiring harness.
I think that the voiding the warranty problem is over blown. They certainly could if it could be proven that towing a trailer caused the problem but my experience is otherwise.
One year I was traveling and the primary bearing went out. I rode into the nearest dealer with the trailer in tow and the tech confirmed the problem in the parking lot just by listening to it. He told me I would have to disconnect the trailer and leave it in the parking lot because there was no room for it in the shop. And this was with a failure in the drive-line - something that arguably could be caused by trailer towing.
