I have an ultra limited was wondering how hard it was to make it detachable ? and how much I like the looks of the street glide but I need it for the girl but when I am in town I would like to take it off
This is the best way to go about dealing with the wire harnesses in my opinion. https://www.hdforums.com/forum/touri...etachable.html The conversion isn't difficult at all if you have minimal mechanical and electrical experience.
You will need to do something about re-locating the licenses plate. As far as the cost, the best thing to do is shop for good used accessories first. You will need the 4 point docking hardware a 2-up tour pak mount and a couple of chrome trim pieces to replace the OEM trim.
This is what I did on my '09 Ultra Classic. I have not mounted the 4 point docking hardware yet.

There are a few Harley accessory dealers. Lake Shore Harley is one of them and probably offers as good a price as any of them.
I haven't mounted the 4 point docking hardware yet so I could tell you anything about how difficult it can be. Maybe someone else will chime in with a comment.
The electrical modification is only a little time consuming. If you follow the instruction at the link I posted you will be ok.
I have the removable TP, and cut the harness under the seat and added the Duetch connectors. If you go this route open up the wire loom before you cut because one of them has the CB antenna in it and I cut mine. I am not worried as I will never use it. Other than that all is well. I found a streetglide seat on CL for $100. Any question just ask
I used the factory kit...... and used a street glide seat bought from a member here(thanks beaumont hope the fridge still working lol) . I love the Jeckel & Hyde look!!!!!! It take 13 minutes to remove tour pack and seat and reinstall the Sg seat and antennas. It takes less time to reinstall the tourpack and seat....... I still need to get a lower tag mount and a _ _ _ _ also a _ _ _ _and a _ _ _ _ _and one of those _ _ _ _ _ _ you get the picture.... It never ends....
