Default General RPM

I'm sure there is no exact formula, but would like others input on RPM and shift change. I can't shift to the moco MOM ranges. I've also read many threads on HDForum that lugging the engine is very bad. With that said, other than 1st, what's the lowest rpm before downshift, and what's the highest before upshift. I try to stay at 2500 for most speeds, don't know where I got that but the bike sounds good.

Thanks

I personally shift between 3000 and 3500, cruise about 2500 and downshift if rpms fall below 2000. Don't know if that's good or bad but it's what feels right.

There are a lot of variables that come into play on when to up/down shift. with a basically stock bike like yours you can run around at about 2500 rpm as long as you are not heavily loaded or climbing steep hills. Each shift on your bike should change rpm's approx 500 rpm's, so figure your shifting from there. If you have a heavy load and/or are climbing steep hills you will want to run a little higher rpm's. the bike won't be hurt by running up higher in the rpm's.
