I am new to riding and was given a 2018 Heritage Classic for Christmas. I have only just starting to get comfortable with the weight of the bike, but am concerned that I'm not shifting gears at the right time. I'm looking for advice on when to shift gears either based on RPMS or MPH.
The owner's manual is a good place to start, since it gives recommended shift points. Personally, I ride a '17 Street Glide and shift up at 3,000 RPM and cruise at no less than 2,500 RPM for casual riding.
Just a heads-up, this "Forum Issues" section is for issues with the forum and rarely are there any threads here so it may not get many responses. Also, as per Forum guidelines, you need to post an introduction in the new member section before posting elsewhere.
I shift mine at 2500 rpm to break her in for a while then you can shift were you feel comfortable and how fast you want to go it all up to you. These days with a little over 8500 miles on my bike i find my self shifting at about 3000 rpms that were i like to be.
