I also use a cable lock that came with one of my Glock pistols. I sit my full-face Shoei on top of my tourpack rack and run the cable through the chinbar and rack. It's quick, easy and unobtrusive.
I use 2 methods.
1: Get a cable lock at any ski shop (probably at Walmart/Kmart as well)
You can lock up multiple items with it and it folds up very small for storage.
2: I put one of those HD helmet locks on my right foot peg. I can hang my helmet on the foot peg where it's not touching anything, and still lock it up. I have hung both my wife's and my helmet by the d-rings, but don't try it if the pipes are hot. The lock is barely noticeable.

like these , work pretty good and not to noticeable
I have these on my SG and love them. The just look like chrome bar ends (I have them on both sides for the OL, but you can get a single) but the metal D-ring slides in to them and locks. Pricey, but the looks great and work perfectly.

Dammit, quoted the wrong post. I meant to say I have the Kuryakyn ones that go on the ends of their ISO grips.
I use a gun lock that has the cable. I took a piece of shrink wrap and shrunk it over the cable part. I leave it in the saddlebag (not noticeable) and lock against the highway bars. This is nice because I can lock more than one helmet if need be with one lock.
Why didn't I think of that? I have a crap load of those. Freakin brilliant! Thanks.
Word of warning! I use the HD ones(Great product) make sure you think twice where you are going to place it then think twice again and before you secure it think twice again!
Once that baby goes on it aint coming off!
I use the HD one as well, (same one on the last 3 bikes)... but I don't use the HD screws that come with it...
Took a couple of Phillips screws... they were a little too long... I cut them off so they don't stick out the back, and ground the ends smooth.. and I use them...
I figure there aren't too many people that go around carrying a screwdriver, with the ***** to go over to someone else's bike and move the helmets to check the heads on the screws holding the helmet lock... and then to have the ***** to start unscrewing the lock....
Well it hasn't happened in over a dozen years, anyway...
and the bonus - being the cheap so-and-so I am, I get to take yet another part with me from my old bike to my new one. (or just simply to change the location of the lock if I choose to do so)
Maybe I'm missing something but can't you just unscrew your mirror in about 5 seconds and take helmet, lock, and mirror? I'm assuming your mirrors are handlebar mounted, of course.
