What's in the manual, or from HD is "correct=there", but the info is misled.

Hope this help!

So, if I have to buy new muffler clamps, aside from being stainless steel, what do I need - and where do I get them?

They're torque to yield clamps and they stretch to conform the first time they're tightened down. Yes, you can reuse them. I've done it, everybody else has too. But depending on how often they've been used they won't clamp as well as when they were new. If you want to be safe, buy new ones. They're cheap...

Edit: they're available at the dealer.

Going there today - to get my "brake switch recall" done.

I just opened the box to see what was inside - just the mufflers. Can I use the original bolts to fasten the mufflers to the saddle bag frame?

Simple install. I wouldn't worry about marking where the stock pipes were because your new ones will not line up the same. And I too reuse my torca clamps.

A little tip for lining them up out of the rear: Use a short piece of perfectly straight 2x4 and lay it flush against the outlet of both pipes to make sure they are even.

Fairly simple to do... Reuse all the hardware including the clamps. +1 on having a spare set of clamps available in case of a leak - I've had the clamps loose twice (once for the slipons and then again when the head pipes were replaced) and don't have a leak - yet. Couple of hints that was passed along to me... Check to make sure there are no burrs or metal flashing on either the pipes or the slipons - it doesn't take much to make it hard to get the slipons in place. Use a little anti-seize on the pipes (not much - just a little coating to keep the parts from sticking). Be sure and clean off any fingerprints or oil from the chrome before starting up the bike (Windex works good). If you can't find the instructions in the box, they are available on the Jackpot website. Final hint - don't be alarmed when you fuel mileage drops a little - it's not your bike, but rather your right wrist reacting to the wonder new sounds coming from the exhaust!

Fenderguy, you can reuse your stock clamps. Buy some high temp anti-sieze and take the nut and wedge washer off your clamps. coat the threads and the curve of the wedge washer with anti-sieze. Then put a small amount around the inside of the clamp. You will be good to go!
Post a sound clip and let us know how you like them..

FenderGuy:

I got the Jackpot's 3.5" and they are very easy to install. I reused the factory clamps. There's a piece of paper that comes in the box, it tells you which muffler goes on which side (if you look the core or the hole inside the mufflers, one is slightly larger than the other). According to FuelMoto, if you put the right muffler on the left side it will affect performance.
By the way, I love the sound. Not too loud, not too quiet. Nice rumble at high rpm's.

Just a side note... I reused mine as well and had to replace one later. After torquing it a couple times it continued to loosen up. I called Jamie at FuelMoto and he said it's bad, just replace it. For the couple bucks they are, I would say replace them so you don't have to possibly do it later. Your putting on a few hundred dollar upgrade, what's a few extra bucks for a couple new clamps? Be sure you have a torque wrench when doing the install!! I believe it is 60ft\lbs..??

Thumbs up Thank You!

By the way, your Ultra is a beauty!
The 4" have a way better sound. They are a lower frequency (I know kinda a nerdy wordy). They sound "meatier", but not louder... it is hard to describe... I loved my 3.5" JP's when I got them, but now hearing the 4" - this is the sound I am after. The 4" are quieter for cruising speed IMO too. Both sound GREAT when going through the gears - but at constant speed, especially hwy, the 4" win hands down. My FLHP sounds great with the 4".

Thanks for the compliment on my Ultra! My 1st HD and I have poured a lotta love into her, and I am proud of her. As you can see, I got so addicted I bought another one! Never been happier! And in June the Ultra is taking a little trip to Fuel Moto for the 107 upgrade. Now I get it when people used to tell me - "If I have to explain it, you won't understand" when it comes to owning an HD motorcycle.
