Oil leak...

Oil leak...

Just shone a light down behind the primary, and just at the rear of the tranny I can see where the oil is coming out the rear of what looks like a shaft of the tranny. I have been using red line heavy..in a 2005 road king 10,000 mile on it....is this an expensive repair, and is it safe to let it go for a while, as long as I keep a check on the oil...thanks brummie

Are you talking about the shifter shaft seal, or around the tranny sprocket?

Oil leak..

Hi...I do not really know, I do not think it is the shifter though....it is just down low over the primary cover, right against the back of the tranny..it looks expensive though....thanks. Brummie

Just the gasket seeping around the cover? Screws loose?

Shift Shaft seal. Common. Is it an actual Leak or a weap. If it is just oily in the area that is a weap and I wouldnt worry about it for now unless you have warranty. If it is dripping oil then it is a leak.
