I guess i live on the bourbon trail.Wild turkey ,four roses, buffalo trace and woodford reserve i could be to either one in about ten minutes.

Wild turkey is a brand new still . Been cooking on that one for about a year and they just finished tearing the old one down. Four roses has spanish design that is different for the area. Woodford reserve is a very nice place and buffalo trace is nice tour also. They all have something uniuqe to each one.
My favorite though is probally makers mark. That place is real nice.
Also the drives through midway to lexington you see some horse farms you have to see to believe.

We did the trail last season, was a great ride, we stopped inbound at Beam then after a night sleep started the local distilleries around Bardstown, Makers, Heaven Hill, then next day into Woodford, Wild Turkey, Four Roses but we did not stop there, went on into Frankfort and to Buffalo Trace(not on the trail) but well worth the time and miles to stop. Great ride roads abound.

Countryside is great, people are too, we also stopped outside of Makers in Loretto at a little bar called Hawks Place, good food, good people. Excellent little bar in Frankfort is the Dragon Pub just off W. Main at the Capital St Bridge, also excellent people, great food. If staying in Bardstown get down to the square to Old Talbott Tavern, AWESOME, try the bourbon beer!!

I think that once you've seen one distillery there's not much need to see another.
I disagree.

We learned quite a bit of history on the Trail and we seemed top pick up on something new at each distillery whether it had to do with bourbon making or not. I also learned the correct way to drink bourbon. There is a little more to it than you think.

Only one distillery we visited mentioned the Corn & Cabin Act of 1776. In an effort to get people to move west and settle what is now Kentucky the US government offered 400 acres to anyone who would build a cabin and plant one acre of corn within two years of occupying the property. That's one reason corn became a major crop in that area. And what can you do with all that corn? Make bourbon!!

Be sure to pick up your passport at the first distillery you visit and get it stamped at each stop so you get the Bourbon Trail t-shirt.

My son and I did the Bourbon Trail in 2010 over a period of two days. Liked the area so much we went back to see some other sites last year, Louisville Slugger factory / museum, Patton Museum, Churchill Downs, etc. It's a beautiful part of the country.

I want to go! Is Pappy Van Winkle also located there?

Just googled The Bourbon Trail and found a pretty good site: http://kybourbontrail.com/index.php

You're right bigdaddy33, they have a really nice website that you were nice enough to link in your post. I'm glad I posted something on here about the Bourbon Trail as it seems to be a very worthwhile trip and sparked some interest for others. That is one nice looking FXDL you have there!

Wild Turkey is OK, I did enjoy the Woodford Reserve tour mucho better, Especially the ride in beautiful rolling hill estates, Gorgeous. Liqour damn good too, better than Wild turkey & Jim Beam. Make sure you go to Lawrence KY small town feel great restaurants. Next time we go gotta make it to Makers. Room rates pretty good too. My advice is to go May, June, We went August to damn HOT!
Wife and I plan to go again real soon.
