Our little car club went to the Makers Mark Distillery last year and to the Woodford Reserve the year before.
I think that once you've seen one distillery there's not much need to see another.
I thought the Woodford tour was a little more informative.
All of the people are nice and both have the usual gift shop and sampling area. (Be sure to taste the boubon *****!)
And of course the scenery down there is beautiful.
Since you're in the area ya may as well go by "THE" racetrack, if for nothing else lunch and another site that you may want to take in is the riverboat ride.
There's also usually something going on down by the river and there's some nice eateries down there too.
Be sure to make the Wild Turkey distillery. I went on an extended tour with other spirits folks in February. Jimmy Russell has been the master distiller there for over 50 years and has some great stories to tell. It is one of the only distillers that own their own cooperage facilities. If you have the time, stop for a night in Louisville and stay at the Brown Hotel.
Have a blast!
PS If you are going to do the entire trail in one day, leave early, stay only about 20 minutes at each and you will be able to complete it. Also, make sure you pick up your free passport at your firs stop and have it stamped at each stop. Have Fun !!!
