I've been riding since 1995. I've had a 1996 XLCH, and a 1998, 2000 and 2001 FLSTC. In may of 2010 I did a demo ride at a local stealer on a 2010 FLHX. That's what I thought I wanted. When we (my dad went with me) got back from the demo ride, he says to me take mine for a ride now. He has a 2004 FLTR. Why not? When I returned (1 1/2 hours later ), I was hooked. I said I'll see if they have one in Denim Black. So I went to Harley's website, and (of course) they did. So long story short, the last 2010 Black Denim FLTRX in Michigan for 2010 model year is in my garage with 13,500 miles on it. Hands down the best handling bike the MOCO makes. I changed some comfort items naturally. Rear shocks, seat, apes, taller windshield. I haven't hit that mileage point for a day where I'm worn out yet. I have a trip planned from Detroit to the Grand Canyon in June, maybe that will do it. 2 of my buddies bought Road Glides this year. Good luck with the sleepless night. I've been there. But you can't go wrong with a Road Glide. Just figured I'd share my story.

I've owned 4 Harley's , put about 12,000 a year on my bikes for the past 7 years. I traded from a 05 Fatboy to my Road Glide and all I have to say is it was a well kept secret from me because if I had realized how stable the shark nose makes the bike at speed and in winds as well as how light the front end feels without the fairing weight on it, I'd have changed to one years ago.

Their not the bike for everyone seems likensomenriders never get the right windshield set up and the buffeting kills them it's harder because of the fairing being father away. But if it fits you it's a great bike.

and the headlights don't turn with the handlebars, and you can't reach the radio, and the cigarette lighter will dent the tank on sharp turns, etc......

to the op, if you think you can't sleep now, wait until you buy the bike and replace that little toenail of a windscreen with a proper one, and upgrade the stock speakers...... you'll be planning 200 mile trips one way, just for lunch

They are ugly. For sure. Went to a dealer yesterday and all the Road Glide models have a sold sign on them. The secret is for sure out. There were over 10 batwings sitting on the floor like the ugly cousin. Any one that wants good info on the Shark nose, be sure to check out www.roadglide.org. Most of us are members here and there. Lots of Batwing guys on here. The other is all Sharks. I wish the secret would have been known to me earlier. I thought there is no way I'll ever have a bike that ugly. But the older I get, the less it's about beauty and the more it is about comfort and handling. I'll never own anything but a Road Glide.

I didn't sleep for a week until I got mine, got zero sleep the night before going to pick it up. It's my first Fugly and first CVO, what a combo.

Good luck, and go get your new bike. I wish I had test ridden a RG 5 Harley's ago, lol.

Oh to be contrarian. I test rode the RGU, RGC and Ultra LTD yesterday. I have wanted a Road Glide for months and loved the bike until.....I rode the Ultra LTD. Maybe it is because my last bike was 2003 EGU but once I got on it, it felt like I was home. It felt smaller (not a bad thing and a reason some folks love the RG instead) and was easier for me to manuever, especially when doing figure 8s in a parking lot. I expected the RG to be better in all the areas I love about the batwing. I was wrong. I do have to say I am happy with the added 103 torque of both machines. My 88 was definitely under powered. Now all I need to do is make my best deal on the LTD. I am not in the "Road Glide is an ugly bike" camp. I wanted one because I love the look. I just like the Limited better. Happy touring.

I joined the RGSS in 08 (Road Glide Secret Society). When folks say it fugly that's only from the outside. From my point of view. The riders seat, it's looks very nice. All the controls, gauges, accessories are where they should be. It's a sweet ride.

I'd like to upgrade to an '013, we'll see.
