Hi everyone, new to forum, first post. I plan on purchasing an '07 Road Glide this March or April and would appreciate some input on upgrades/options. Not so much cosmetic things, I have decided on a chopped tourpack and lowers, but engine mods, braided lines, and lowering suspension type things. The items that would be good to have right from the get go installed by the dealer. The chrome and eye candy things I think would make for good winter projects later on, living in the Chicago area plenty of time for winter projects. Thanks in advance for any and all help
This will be my first Harley (was a speed freak when younger, hence the cbr in name), a present for the big 40. I spoke with the dealer a little bit and was told of some options that they could do to the motor, some to keep it under warranty and others that would not, saying that as long as I brought it to them with any problems that occured, they would handle it. Might not be that way if I have to take it to another dealer. I would like to go with the engine mods to get it to a strong 103 and am thinking of the good stuff that will kill the warranty.
congrats, you will have fun.... However, posting a question like this is like telling us you have found the woman of your dreams and you are getting married this spring and what do we think on how she should dress and act ----read what is "suggested" - after you get the RG - ride it for awhile then adj as necessary....
That Roadglide is a great bike. My son just got his about 3 wks ago Black Pearl. Only thing he has done to it is put on my ole Rush mufflers 1.75 baffles. He had a K&N filter on order already has a Dobeck TFI he will put on after 1000 miles. Said later he will put him a Rinehartexhaust on. He already put him a luggage rack/backrest on it. He will leave his engine stock. Only thing he will do is different exhaust, air filter, TFI.I have rode it several times and it is a big improvement over my 06 FLHTCI.
I'm not new here just couldn't remember my log in name or password been awhile and a new computer - LOL ... So I had to register as new (what a drag) anyway, I have had my share of Harley's:
A Custom 1200C, Two Electra Glides, Three Road Kings "and a partridge in a pear tree" - LOL...
Seriously though, I loved my Kings but - I need the music back ... So I'm buying a Road Glide as I'm tired of the shimmy/shake as slight as it might be of the E-Glides. I am also aware that the Road Glide IS the best kept secret touring bike, of the smartest of Harley riders and IS the touring bike to get for the serious long time Harley touring riders. (Sort of like the secret handshake, only the few, the proud, and the beautiful know about them - Oooooooooooopps I'm letting out the secret, I'm also very handsome) That's what all the ladies say - LOL...
Anyway, enough nonsense ... How are the Road Glides??? Thanks...
The Road Glides are Nice and Hot! I Love My 07 Road (Hog) Glide. I thought about doing performance Mods first but nothing is better then having a Good looking Fast Glide, so first is the Show then The Go

Kinda, but not really. The cosmetic part is certainly personal, everyone has their idea of what looks good. I want to know what mechanical/performance enhancements experienced harley owners would get right from the start.
When I got my '06 Electra Glide Classic (my fourth Electra Glide) I seriously considered getting a Road Glide, as I love the handling in wind of the fixed fairing. The only thing that scared me off was the riding "posture", as I thought it was too much like a Road King (where I perceive myself sitting "on" as opposed to "down in") the bike, like I feel on an Electra Glide.
