The more the better when it comes to extra lites on the rear. You would have to be rookie rider to think that HFD puts your safety first.

On my bike I put front turn signals on the rear with a brake light kitso I have parking/turn & brake lights where my turnsignals used to be. You can now buy a kit from harley to accomplish the same thing but I don't think the brakelights are as bright. I added the LED light bar between the signals and mounted a couple of small LED lights under the tourpack to add to the light show..

Looked pretty slick on a Road King I saw last summer,so I asked my wife for one for christmas and she got it for me.
I was using the old harley brake and stoplight kit,not the newer version.
The old version kit had red lenses and only turned "on" for brake or directional.
The new version kit has the lights on as running lights, then extra function for brake and directional.
By using the plate frame kit,I could go back to stock amber directionals, and the "add" running and brake lights with the plate frame kit.
The biggest advantage I found is that while running down the road at night, the bike "looks bigger" from behind and has more effective lighting
when stopping or changing lanes.
I think it looks neat also.
I've been rear ended twice by 1 car and 1 truck,so I'm a little paranoid when I ride nowadays.
