Default Stage 1

Done the stage one on my new 2012 Ultra Limited. RC Excalibar slip ons, (really like these pipes) Screamin Eagle air cleaned kit, and a remap. Kinda pricey, close to a $1000.00 bucks, but it was worth it. Woke the bike up a little. Bought the pipes and the air cleaner kit, told dealer i would install it all. Manager tells me, not a good idea, you have to remove the tank to install the air cleaner, and if you do get it on the bike and run it, it will go into limp mode after about 25 miles. So I dont hear to good anymore, done the install myself. You can install the air cleaner without removing the tank, there is 2 bolts that is HARD to get to on a bracket the instructions tell you to remove and discard that a electrical componet clips to, but it can be done. That probably saved me a $100.00 or so. I do have a trailer so I carried it to my dealer thats about 90 miles away to get it mapped. Bike runs great, money well spent.

Default Congrads on the upgrade!

I too recently did some upgrade work. A couple months back I cut the cat out of the header pipe, installed a Fuel Pak, and Fuel Moto's AC. I didn't do all the upgrades at once so I could see the effect each one had individually. The high flow air cleaner, without a doubt, was the biggest change. I haven't really thought about different slip ons yet. I like the sound of the stock pipes but if I can get the same improvement I got with the AC upgrade, I will. The only issue I have is I'm a real cheapskate. Cat removal was $8 for new exhaust gaskets, fuelpak $100 off flea bay, and $150 AC from Fuel Moto, who I highly recommend. Just have to be patient and wait for a deal.

Harley installation instructions can be such a joke, but I'm surprised to hear a dealer echo that silliness. There is no way they take the tank off when they do these, just no way. When I did mine, I saw the instructions and just about fell off my chair from laughter. I actually posted a thread about it.

Yep, I feel sure they do not pull the tank either, but I bet they charge labor like they did!
