Harley's are no different than any other motorcycle. I've had too many to count and every one of them has had their quirks and design frustrations.
As a hot rodder/gunsmith/ motorcyclist I would think you'd easily come up with a solution for your wind-wing issue. Those things were not designed by rocket scientists, ya know.
I refer to my Harley relationship as a 'love/hate' relationship (love to ride it/ hate to work on it). Pretty much the same as the one's I have with all of my hot rods or any of the Jap and European race bikes I've owned.
Stop the whining or sell the bike, man. Life's too short.
After buying a used machine, I would be slow to blame the manufacturer or the engineering for annoyances or even failures which may have been induced by the previous owner. Having to remove a passenger floorboard to access a derby cover screw seems very minor to me, especially if the same frame might be equipped with passenger foot pegs on a different model. It begins to sound as though you bought the machine for your test drive rather than taking advantage of the dealer test ride or rental program.
How can you possibly enjoy getting away for a couple of days if you're going to worry about the bike breaking down all the time?
Were your other Harleys so bad they have you gun shy? If they didn't break down on you riding locally (much harder on a bike than open road cruising), what makes you think this bike will?
