Ok people, i need more helmet info. I dont wear a helmet but need one for the trip memorial day. I want a small beanie type that doesnt sit way up on my head. Prefer the kind that pull down low on your head, suggestions?
I have a couple and paid about $20.00 each and they are mostly what I wear. Cold weather I wear a modular helmet. Not sure what kind of info you are looking for. Only other thing I can say is ya gotta try a helmet as opposed to ordering online if ya want a good fit.
If you are going to wear something on your head- why not wear a dot helmet.
don't give some cop a reason to stop and hassle you ( remember papers in wallet, not saddlebag, you open the saddlebag they get "probable cause" to search further...ever had a cop call a leatherman a "combat knife" in a report ? )
and a hassle out-of-state is extra hassle.
when I go to hostile territory I have a H-D 1/2 helmet with some kind of little ducktail in the back. it's the only helmet I've ever be subjected to that didn't bobble around , or the chin strap try to pull my head off.
it also has vents which a "novelty helmet" won't have
E-bay..Just remember do not apply the $2.00 extra or free DOT decal they send with it. If you really must wear it, just wear it like it is and take your chances. Some states (like NY) will burn you a good one for wearing it and then turning around and attempting to make it look legal. Believe me the State Police can spot one at a 100 yards and if you have the DOT on it that you added the fine goes up another $200 for adding the DOT.
