Please refer to the mph scale and not the kp/h scale..... unless you have a metric speedometer.
Really? Shift to 6th gear at 55mph? What rpms are you turning at that speed? 2200 tops, I'd say. Way too low if I want to crank the throttle and accelerate right now fast. At 55mph, I'm still in 4th gear. If we both crank WOT at that speed, you'll be a small dot in my mirror faster than you can say "lug my engine." I guess we just have different riding styles.
I'd rather put a shotgun in my mouth and pull the trigger, than shift my Street Glide according to that chart. Way too conservative for the way I ride a motorcycle.
Depends, terrain, load....i don't like to cruise with the engine lugging below 2500 rpm's...Each bike is different i guess... haven't tried it on a 103" so ...my 96" with the cams can pull at lower than 2500 but i just don't like to. ..sPECIALLY WHEN BREAKING IT IN....
When I was still stock the bike was pretty much useless in 6th unless I was doing 70+ mph. I stayed in 5th til about 70 unless there was no wind and I had a double lane.
Now with the 106 I get into 6th at about 60 and have no trouble passing and the motor isn't lugging.

That chart is strictly based on fuel economy. The Performance chart looks very different.
went out for a nice ride to Greenport,LI yesterday to continue breaking in my '11 SG and was motoring along in the HOV lane at about 70-75mph, was a bit windier than what I like so kept the bike in 5th and was @3k rpms, would upshift to 6th rpms dropped to around 2200-2400 bike would pull but I didn't feel that "aggressiveness" or ability to push through the wind/moving around feeling.
I go through the gears and try not to stay too long of a stretch on one gear, I alternate 4-6 while on the freeways, but what gear should I really be in when doing 70-75mph? I made it up to 85 but that was for a short stint and on 6th gear, still need to break the motor in a bit more before staying at those speeds.
Why would you be shifting around when cruising at highway speeds? That speed is Exactly what 6th gear is for.
