Choosing a windshield and asking for input is a little akin to asking "which oil is best" etc. Everyone will have an opinion and some might be more valid than others. If you want a windshield that really shields you from the wind and bugs encountered in high speed riding you need to pick one that is high. If you want a windscreen that looks uber cool and does little to protect you from debris, you go low. Physics are what they are so you have to decide. In my 50 years of riding with many, many good friends, nearly everyone ends up with a shorter windshield than what they need and then look elsewhere for some kind of magical fix for the wind turbulence that hits them in the face with a short shield. If you want a windshield to keep the wind off your chest it has to be above your chest. If you want it to shield your chin it has to be above your chin. If you want it to shield your eyes...then it has to be above your eyes. This is not magic we are talking here just common sense. Why not try this: go down to your friendly Harley Davidson dealer on a Saturday morning when there are a lot of bikers coming and going. Get a cup of coffee and just hang out in the parking lot. You will see lots of windshilds, both low and high. Talk to the guys and see what they say. Remember that opinions will vary but physics never, ever change. If you want a real windshield you want "high." If you want "cool" you want "low". And asking the parts guys or the salesman at your Harley dealer for assistance is like asking the head waiter at a restaurant "Is the steak tough"?
Clearview 8" that curves on top. I'll bet it will be just right for you.
edit: Here's their website. I've had one for several years...I see way over the top and get great wind protection. Actually, that's the first thing I'm putting on the new FLHTK I'm picking up next week.

Here's what I did. I used a dry erase marker as someone suggested, and marked 6", 8", & 10" on my stock windshield. After going for a ride, it appeared that the 10" might work, but the 8" might be too low.
I went to my dealer and borrowed a demo 10" windsplitter. I can see over this shield fine. If I slouch too much, it does get real close to, if not right at, my sightline. It appears a 9" would be perfect. I also, for the first time, noticed the buffeting everybody talks about. It's not constant, nor is it strong, but I could see how it would be annoying if it were too much worse.
Based on all that, I ordered a 9" Fast Aire Aero shield. I'll post results when I get it installed.
