I have Rush true duals with 4" Rinharts. Sound good and ceramic coated inside and out is a pluse. Still doing the SEPST smart tune. Then when I get it close will put it on a dyno.
I think i have made mind up to go with the Vance and Hines power duals and leave the stock slip ons for now until i hear some on a similar setup that i like so im wasting money. What yall think?
Bought my 103 Limited Ultra last June. I really like my bike again since I got rid of the heat, last fall. A couple of guys I know have Power Duals, so that's why I went with them. I had Rush Big Louie slip-ons, on for awhile. (Rush has always done a 3.5" muffler body. Big Louie is the new 4" muffler body, in addition to the 3.5" one that they still have.) I Heard a set of Vance & Hines High Output slip-ons, and said, "wow, that's the sound I've been wanting all these years." That's what I have on now. I bought them through a Harley dealer who had them in stock right at the store. If you go to a large dealership, they might even let you hear a few things that they have out in the shop. (Remember, they'll probably sound alot "bigger" inside than outside!) Also, Rush slip-ons are pretty common, and not real, real expensive. They come with different diameter baffles. The 1.75" baffle won't be as loud & deep as the 2.5". If you hear a Rush & you like it, make sure you ask them which diameter baffle is in the Rush. The dealer where I bought my 1st Harley (09 EG Classic) also had Rush slip-ons right in stock at the store. I wouldn't know if they all carry them in stock, though. Hope it helps. Have fun with your "research!"
I have the Power Duals as well - am quite pleased with them thus far. Got them from Fuel-Moto for less than MSRP, and they are an excellent outfit to deal with. They have an in-house head pipe as an alternative for a bit more, but last I heard they were back-ordered(?) for awhile. Both choices are cat-less, so eliminate the cat extra heat issue. F-M head pipe uses the stock heat shields.
+1 on the advice to go to a bike gathering and listen to pipes b4 purchasing. Everyone's tastes are different. True duals sound different than 2-1-2, and many claim a somewhat lower low-end power output capability - but again, it comes down to what is most important to you.
Remember, you don't *have* to do a tuner or other ECM adjustment if you just do slip-ons, but if you do an A/C upgrade as well, you're going to want to address the stock lean condition of the factory settings. I got a tuner bcuz I wanted the bike to run to its potential, and be able to adjust as I make changes along the line. Also didn't want to be captive to the dealer/dyno financial treadmill.
Ok guys just got back from the dealer and the bike will be delivered on 18th and ready to pick up the 19th. Me and OL got to ride one just like it for a while but a different color and damn i liked it. I did notice the heat issue and so did the OL but i fell in love with the ultra right away!! I ended up going with and having them install the vance and hines power duals(after talking with yall and from my research) and keeping the stock slip ons and doing the stage 1 upgrade, also they are putting on the zumo 665 navigation and wiring it into the speakers. I worked out a deal with them they are throwing in 2 new 3/4 face helmets and installing the headset that comes with the bike and im getting the other one free for the OL and they installing it also. Dont guess i came out 2 bad. They are also giving me what i think is good trade in value. I know you get screwed when dealing on things like this its just a matter of if you enjoy the screwing or not. Thanks again guys so much!!!
When you Start playing with the Zumo you will have to adjust the volume for the navigation instructions. Which is not spelled out in the manual. When the GPS is giving direction you can adjust the volume buy the master volume **** on the left control. You will see "PHONE/NAV" show up on the screen if you did it correctly. Also the speaker switch controls where the sound goes.
Full forward: all sounds (music, CB, GPS) in headsets.
Middle position: music in speakers, everything else in headset
Full back: music, GPS, CB in speakers and intercom in headsets
Thanks greg that doesnt make sense right now but im sure it will once i get to messing with it. Do you know about how much you xm costs you a month for the zumo subscription?
