Question seat repair

I have a 2008 anniversary Ultra. The stitching on the bottom bucket is starting to tear. I local auto upholstery shop said they can fix it for 150 bucks by replacing the old vinyl with new and adding more slack to the area. In the mean time i am going to try to slow the tearing. right now its about 1/2 inch long and shows the white fabric under the vinyl. Anyone have any ideas on some black type of adhesive to sorta plug the spot and maybe slow down the tearing process? I hope to find a seat guy in New Hampshire during Laconia that can repair it for less money. I was told the brown center material is no longer available from Harley. I would like to keep this seat because it matches the bike well. thanks jeff

You can get vinyl repair kit at any auto parts store... they work in a bind but repair is the best. For an extra $100 you can pick up a like new seat on the web.

Just a thought but i have a guy here in Chicago area that does nothing but repairs. He has made a good living off repairing seats and misc parts at auto dealers in the area.... I took a seat,a coat and a few other leather items to him a while back and i was amazed at the repairs and matches he made. If you can find someone in your area, and i am sure you can.. It would be worth the footwork. Check leather repair on net and also check with auto dealers and body shops. Might even check local HD shop. Good Luck.....

I would check another upholstery repair shop. I had my stock seat foam added and recovered for $60.00 before I got a Mustang. This was by an older fella that worked out of a shop in back of his house. Try CL for upholstery repair.
