My voltage regulator went out at 2300 miles while in Key West on a Bike trip with the wife. I just got through with an Iron Butt ( that would have really pissed me off ). Long story short instead of towing the bike 3 hours to Miami I just had them ship it to me next day air and I put it on myself. FT
Weird. I've had four harleys and have never had a warranty issue. Anything that was ever broke on one of my bikes, I was directly responsible for. I've always thought the HDs to be reliable, I even got 7 years out of the battery in my 2002 FLHRCI.
My 2010 FLHTCU does have the brake recall; however I've fixed this with the FM head pipe and tuning to cool things off.
Had an ignition switch on my '06 Wide Glide go bad. My '08 Ultra was basically trouble free except for the ignition switch lock went bad, up to 27K, when I traded it. I'm hoping for similar results with the new one, even though I'm in the process of introducing several 'unreliability' factors at the moment.
My dealership is back logged no work also. But when you stop by there, almost all of the bikes being worked on are old and pretty bad shape. Not seeing too many newer bikes in there for anything other than service and adding accessories.
I didn't pursue a new Goldwing because the builds went back to Japan which raised the price a couple thousand, and I couldn't stand the new design.
LOL - I can't stand the design of any Goldwings - they all look the same to me tho'. Sorry you are having so much trouble. I will say that on the whole I've had very few issues with Harley's over 20 years of continuous ownership. I've heard Goldwings have their fair share of issue too. Luck of the draw I guess.
Going on my 1,000 service on my Street Glide. Its been running flawlessly and no issues whatsoever. I had to schedule my service 3 weeks out. I take that as a shop that has a lot of repeat customers which is a good sign.
Hope you get everything taken care of.
I have a 2012 Untra Limited with less than 2K miles. Bike is in shop now waiting on a new regulator. Regulators are on backorder because there has been a rash of them changed. According to two local dealers they expect HD will be doing a recall on them sometime in the near future because of problems with the regulators.
Not sure but I believe this same regulator is used on several models/years and there are many documented problems her.
