My wife got her license about 3 years ago but at the time had no interest in getting a bike. Lately she has been talking about possibly wanting one to ride a little. I went and looked at this one today. She sat on it fits her. I took it for a ride and it was fun (big difference from the Ultra...) It is a 1991 883 converted to 1200. Runs good new paint, new tires, new belt new battery, new brakes. Asking $4200, did some searching on the net and it is in the price range. It is our neighbor's bike, he has two small kids and has not ridden in years and has come to the realization that he won't for more to come...
Thats funny we posted at the exact same time with the same price advise $3,000k.. Well to the OP what does that tell ya! Dont pay more then 3k!! Hope this helps!
What's the mileage on it? Either way $4200 is too high for a 1991. You shouldn't be paying for any of the accessories or the 1200 kit. You should be paying maybe a slight bit more then a stock 1991 883 Sportster. I don't know where you are in Maryland, but here's on on Craigslist that's 12 years newer and only $500 more... http://washingtondc.craigslist.org/m...985346961.html
You can buy a 2004-06 for that price point. I think they went to the rubbermount in 2004 so that would be more comfy for her. The market is saturated with used sportys so you can get a killer deal on a newer one. 2007 is when they went to fuel injection.
The thing that scares me is you say she's thinking about riding a little. My opinion is if she's not riding it almost every week that it may be too dangerous for her. Just because she has her license she still has to practice, practise. The skills are perishable. Maybe get her a cheep honda rebel and she how often she rides it.
get a fuel injected one you will be happer in the long run 2006 and up for that price just have to look around thay are there... I put the rekluse clutch in my wifes two years ago she loves it, no stalling on take off
