Hell, I don't know - I just checked the Harley site, and they show the ones on the Softail to be just like the ones in my picture, but the Road King ones look setup like the ones in Architect's photo even though the guards themselves look the same in person.
No, that's actually one of the manufacturer's photos off their site. Sounds like from what others are saying that different manufacturers orient them differently, but for that version the pic shows them mounted correctly. All the photos on that site show them the same way.
I have a Street Glide as well and mine are mounted just like "TheArchitect" has his mounted.
Mine are from a different manufacturer, they have a whole in the top for the turn signal, instead of a slot. I wonder if they would even go on if I reversed them. Would then look more like a "scoop" instead of a deflector.
Great question and it's now got me thinking. Might even try them the other way to see if they fit better.
I can tell you for a fact the Harley one's on a 11 RKC can be mounted either way. However, once you mount them the wrong way there is no way in hell you can turn the handlebars very far because they hit the crash bar.
With all the confusion going on about this, now I don't feel so stupid by starting this post. The instruction sheet from the HD ones, do not show a clear picture. And they definitely can be installed either way (I know because I did it). However, one way would really inhibit turning and the other way, they just barely touch the crash bar. So, I'm pretty certain that, at least with the HD ones, the angle at the top angles towards the rear of the bike.
Amazing how something so simple can end up being confusing !

Reason: misspelling
Not according to the Harley install instructions and the pictures on their site. As described above, they apparently reverse them on the Softails compared to the touring models.
