there's a ton of info about these compensators...and the clunking at low speeds/rpms is present too...looks like I've got some work to do. Is there anything else I should do while this thing is in pieces? damn.

Well you could look into a Andrews 30 tooth pully! If money is not an issue then this claims to be good for a few horsepower:http://bakerdrivetrain.com/attitude-chain-adjuster

I know my battery is getting weak because between rides the battery needs charging...

I'll update tomorrow when I upload the firmware and drop the battery in.

Thanks again for the info
I had experienced the dreaded starter bang thinking I was needing the new SE Comp. I replaced the comp a few weeks ago and needless to say the first fill up after the install I still had the starter bang. I understand the compression thing also when starting. I also noticed my starter didn't have the power when turning over. Low and behold it was my battery to begin with. New battery installed the same day and after a trip to Texas last week I've never had the issue. It never was the compensator to begin with. Something for some to think about before replacing the comp.

good point.....for me the comp was last on my list.....i checked batt connections and pulled the starter....opened up the starter and found nada wrong....replaced the batt after awhile and that solved the problem for about 3 months....then the missed starts and bangin came back....changin the comp finally fixed it.....

Well...bought and installed the Deka battery, and uploaded the new firmware to the PC USBIII....

Cranks like a champ! Thanks to all...especially my buddy that I met for lunch, who not only said the battery solved his problem, but drove 25 miles to go get the battery and then turn around and deliver it to my house...all before I got home from work. Now that's a friend! He'll be happy to see 2 cases of Budweiser on his doorstep tonight.

Fluid swap and detail next....then 3000 miles. I'm more than ready for this.

Thanks again everyone...let you know when I get back if I had any issues.
