Default How many miles on front tire????

Hello everyone. I've searched this topic to death and can't seem to find any info on this.

I have an 09 FLHR with 5600 miles and it appears to me that my front tire is near the end as far as tread depth.

I have the big rubber jacketed HD tire pressure gauge with tread depth indicator. My rear tires is fine......i guess. According to the depth gauge it's 2/3's still in the green. However, my front tire is right on the border of green and yellow....may just a hair shy of being in the yellow.

It seems from what I've been reading is that the rear tire usually wears out faster. I know there is a TSB out on the 09 touring front tires.......but shouldn't i be getting better mileage on the tire?

I also have the ext warranty which included tire and wheel. This is the longest i've had a bike.......i'm usually bored by now and have traded up so I'm not sure if this is normal.

Also, I always check tire pressure and keep them properly inflated as much as possible.

Any and all thoughts welcome

That's because the rear tire has twice the tread depth new. The front only had 5/32 to begin with, almost in the yellow. I got 31K out of my D408f front tire before replacing at less than 2/32s, where the wear bars are.

I changed out for new OEM Dunlops on my 2010 StreetGlide at 19.5K miles. I think I could have gotten more out of the front...maybe lots more.

I traded in my 2010 Street Glide with 17,000+ miles on it. The rear tire needed to be replaced, but the front tire still had several thousand miles left in it.

If you need to change your front tire at 5,600 miles, something is wrong (assuming you've kept air pressure correct as stated). You may want to take it back to the dealer and have them explain to you what's happening.

I just changed my front Michelin Commander. It had 20K on it and was close but not down to the wear indicator. When I changed the rear it had about 15K on it.
I am now running Metzler 880 Marathons but think my Michelins gave me a softer ride.

I changed the original front at 12,000 because of cupping. The American elite I have now has 20,000 and might last another 2,000

23,000 on my original dunlop. It still has some life left in it but since the rear needs to be replaced now I figure that I will just change it out now.
