I do most of my riding on twisting canyon 2 lane rural roads and check my tire pressure at least once a week and I have been getting about 8,000 on stock Dunlops through about 4 tire changes. I just switched to give Michelin Commander II a try.
You guys are getting some very impressive numbers, I have Dunlop Cruisemax on my front and I don't think I got 6000 miles on mine and its down well into the wear bars.
Just curious how far are you's going into the wear bar before changing out the tire or is the the wear bar just a wakeup call to start thinking about a new tire?

I've always heard wear bar is the "wake-up" call. But I usually replace mine well before then, just to make sure I don't eat it un necessarily!
I have a 2010 RK and I changed out the rear tire at about 12,000 miles and the front at about 16,000 miles. I was down to about 2/32nd's left on both tires. That's close enough for me.
I changed the back tire in my 2008 Electra Glide Classic at 10k miles. (bought it used and the previous owner apparently had decided that low pressure was the way to go.) The replacement tire now has 13.5k miles and will get changed at 15k.
The front was changed at 20k. It probably would have gone a couple of thousand more.
If you are only getting 5600 out of your front tire, I think something is wrong. Get it fixed.
The front I recently replaced the factory 40? at 21,000ish.......
The backs... the stocker 40? I got 5,000ish the same style replacement I got 6,000ish
Then went to a E3 and got 9,500 ish
This time went E3 front and rear. Handles 10X better and they seem to last longer.
Now, if I could figure out how to quit twisting the little thingy on the handlebars... I might get the ridulously high mileage out of them that some of the other people are getting........ nah.... I'll just keep having fun and changing back tires every 10,000ish miles
Hello everyone. I've searched this topic to death and can't seem to find any info on this.
I have an 09 FLHR with 5600 miles and it appears to me that my front tire is near the end as far as tread depth.
I have the big rubber jacketed HD tire pressure gauge with tread depth indicator. My rear tires is fine......i guess. According to the depth gauge it's 2/3's still in the green. However, my front tire is right on the border of green and yellow....may just a hair shy of being in the yellow.
It seems from what I've been reading is that the rear tire usually wears out faster. I know there is a TSB out on the 09 touring front tires.......but shouldn't i be getting better mileage on the tire?
I also have the ext warranty which included tire and wheel. This is the longest i've had a bike.......i'm usually bored by now and have traded up so I'm not sure if this is normal.
Also, I always check tire pressure and keep them properly inflated as much as possible.

37000 kms (about 23000 miles) on my front original D402. Rears last about 7000 miles. Just ordered a set of E3's. Happy with the front tire wear just don't like having mismatched tread patterns & I am not happy with the tread life with the D402 rear tire.
