Guess that depends on what bike you intend to put them on. At Thunder Beach last weekend I was talking to one of the salesmen/techs at their booth while the GF was getting a broken nail clipped off by one of the other techs, and was commenting how I liked the 940's and asked about the lighter springs, but felt I didn't really need them. His comment was the 940 work best with the EG/RG with the tourpak because the extra weight makes them ride better. Progressive makes a host of shocks with different spring rate and height. I went with the 940's for the lower ride height and longer travel they have. Very satisfied with the results and my choice.

Your results may vary

I paid $210 for a pair of HD 412 shocks, 11.5 inch length. They lowered the bike a bit, and out performed the stock shocks to boot. All I require in a shock is that it not allow the bike to bottom out, and not bounce me out of the seat. With the preload adjustment I can do that with these shocks. Note that I have the heavy duty ones, as I most often ride two up, and that is around 350 lbs with the two of us. You want world class shock performance it's out there, at 3 or 4 times the price. My bike is a touring bike, not a canyon carver, so for me these do the job, it all depends on what you are looking for.

the 412 may be better than stock for some but that is progressives entry level good shock (of the good-better-best selection) If your stock shocks arnt blown Id wait until you can get 440, 940 or Im told by jason at Progressive the 970 will fit a FL or the high end stuff Ohlins, Works, Terrycable

I sent my stock shocks to bitchn baggers. Gave them all the specs... how and where I ride, my weight and ol ladys weight. How often I ride 2 up. They modified the stock shocks to me/my bike. Got them cut down by 1 1/4 inch. Been on 3-4 rides since I had them on, works nice. Supposed to be 1/2 inch lower then SG. I ride EG - dont ride with the tour pack. I didnt put air back in, but I didnt think about it until after riding, the ride is nice, I guess I need a little air in there but not sure. I dont bottom out, but Virginia has nice smooth rodes for the most part I think.

I found the Progressives too stiff and too easy to bottom out. I prefer the stock, 12" or 13", shocks with thicker oil.
