These diagrams illustrate flywheels/crank in balanced and imbalanced condition.

More information is available at the Darkhorse website; go to the "No Spin Zone"

As to the OPs question, headwork which means more compression, TMan's 590 cams and larger throttle body will put TQ/HP in the 115 rang and, if it were me, I would be spending the $1000 or thereabouts to protect the upgrade investment. I would also say that if going that far, I would also case bore for a set of H-D 4.060" cylinders/pistons and increase displacement to 113"; not that much more $$ to do it now. I would not do the Timken conversion; the "Lefty" roller bearing has been holding up pretty well.

Thanks, guys, for your input. I've been e-mailing John at Darkhorse, and it looks like we're gonna go the whole enchilada, crank, bearing, and rods. Again, I appreciate the folks who took the time to respond. Ride safe.

My runout was 7 thou and I left it alone. I was afraid of more time delays and more work than I had the knowledge to complete. Not sure if that's unfounded or not. Hopefully it holds......

Time delay, yeah, I thought about that, and in all honesty, the motor would most likely have been fine as long as I didn't kick her too hard. But the wife and I are planning some longer trips, and I also thought about how much down time and hassle we'd have to go through if the bottom end did let go. If I wasn't doing the heads, cams and throttle body, I probably wouldn't have done the work either.

Yeah I know but I'm already 4 weeks without a bike since I sent my heads out, which is longer than anticipated. Ain't no way I'm waiting longer. I guess I'll take my chances and maybe make the crank next winters project.
