I plan to install an aftermarket tour pack that has tail, stop and brake lights on a 2005 FLHTI with security. What is the best way to get the needed signals from the factory wiring harness? I would like to do this without permanently changing the harness and as also keep the cost reasonable. I have located a connector under the seat that goes to these lights.
Will there be an issue with the security system or the self canceling turn signals? Will I have problems with drawing too much current? I bought this from Ebay for $115 plus shipping. It has a spoiler and looks a lot like the rear end of a Pontiac Grand Am. This ebayer has these listed often and they come in several colors.
Ckeck the J&P Cycles website at www.jpcycles.com. I bought a harness that goes between the connection under your seat and is made for wiring up a trailer connector. If you are not planning on pulling a trailer, I would buy this plug-in harness and wire up to your tour pak. The cost is around $40.
