i never have understood why everyone thinks the shark is FUGLY. i have always wanted one and ended up with a flhtc. the deal was right but i really was looking at the recent road glides. i just came back from st pete florida to just near philly and enjoyed my batwing. i do notices a fight around 18 wheelers and when we went from the obx, this past thurs, the wind was really fighting me to the point of fatigue. i think the third one in the stable will have the shark tip.
i dont think youll really want to consider the fugly bike. the headlights dont turn and you wont be able to reach the radio and not to mention the dashboard is a mile away. did i mention how ugly they are too

you forgot to mention that if you turn really hard to the left, the cigarette lighter will ding the fuel tank.
rode a batwing for 10 years and a shark 1 1/2 years , would never go back to a batwing , I was on the highway one day in a strong cross wind when I came up on 8 batwings running single file at about 65 mph , the wind was beating them to death , I went by them at 85 mph with 1 hand on my bars smiling because I'd been there and done that and will never again
I am qualified to respond as I have a 10 Ultra Classic that I have toured 18,000 miles on and a 12 Road Glide that I just passed 2K on.
I can read the gauges on the RG easier as the Ultra's gauges are almost vertical and the tops get shaded at times.
I can reach the radio and controls without any problem. Did not know that there were some that think so until I read it on this forum.
The comfort, handling and ride is a step or two above the Ultra.
Looks? I called the Ultra the "Buick" for all the tinsel on it. I call the GB the "Evil Twin"
It is a stunningly good looking bike with flowing lines.
We have had a very warm spring but with very strong winds this year. Always grabbed the RG and cruised around without any concern for the wind or it's direction.
Does that help? If you still can't decide get both and you have everything covered.
